Over the past few days, the Aria Resort and Casino has played host to the 2018 Poker Masters. Top poker players from around the world have been on hand to compete in the several events on the schedule, with the most anticipated being the Main Event. After a tough final table and a long three-handed segment, David Peters would emerge victorious. Peters began the poker event as the chip leader and eventually earned the title win.
Main Event Details:
The $100,000 Main Event saw 25 players competing, with Peters, Bryn Kenney, Koray Aldemir and Dan Smith making it to the final table play. When the final day began, Peters held a small chip lead over Smith, with Kenney and Aldemir not far behind. Kenney had the short stack and was able to hold on for quite some time before being eliminated with queen-ten up against the queen-jack of Aldemir.
Three-handed play then began between Peters, Kenney and Aldemir. The three played for 175 hands before only Peters and Smith remained. The two made a choice to speed up the playing structure during the Las Vegas event, so that the action would continue at a faster pace.
According to PokerNews…
Both players were pretty even in chips, but Peters gained an advantage early on when he earned a top pair on a three-bet pot. He then continued to earn big hands and gain a much larger lead to help secure the win.
On the final hand, Peters shoved all in from the button with 3,780,000. Smith called, putting his 1,140,000 all in. Peters showed K-7 off-suit while Smith held A-7 of diamonds. The flop fell 3-4-10, which helped Smith to further his advantage. However, the King on the turn shifted the hand towards Peters and the 6 of spades on the river secured him the win, sending Smith home in second place.
